Promoting High-Quality Development through Evaluation: The College of Biotechnology Makes Solid Progress in Preparing for the Undergraduate Education and Teaching Accreditation Evaluation
Release Date: March 17, 2025
To solidly advance preparations for the undergraduate education and teaching accreditation evaluation, on March 14th, a supervision and guidance team for the undergraduate education and teaching accreditation evaluation from the university visited the College of Biotechnology for a special inspection. The supervision team consisted of Su Jing, Deputy Director of the Academic Affairs Office, Tang Fangxiao, also from the Academic Affairs Office, and Xie Yunjiang, Deputy Director of the University's Teaching Quality Monitoring and Evaluation Center. The leadership team of the college participated in the reception and provided a work report throughout the process.
At 9:30 a.m., the supervision and inspection meeting officially commenced in Conference Room 2-210 of the college. Du Yangang, Secretary of the Party Committee of the college, welcomed the supervision team and emphasized that the college has always regarded the undergraduate education and teaching accreditation evaluation as a crucial opportunity to enhance the quality of talent cultivation, with all members attaching great importance and making systematic arrangements. Teng Yu'ou, Associate Dean of the college, provided a detailed report on the progress of the college's preparations for the evaluation, covering aspects such as the refinement of the self-assessment report, archiving of supporting materials, optimization of the teaching environment, and the condensation of distinctive highlights. She also highlighted the achievements in teaching reforms, including the construction of the Modern Industrial College for Biomedicine, the Future Technology College for Engineering Biology, the establishment of new engineering practical teaching bases, and innovations in curriculum-based political and ideological education.
The supervision team conducted a comprehensive examination of the college's preparation work through methods such as listening to reports, reviewing materials, and on-site inquiries. They fully affirmed the college's preliminary efforts, noting its "high political stance, meticulous responsibility implementation, and substantial distinctive highlights," particularly commending its remarkable achievements in constructing a practical teaching system and transforming disciplinary advantages into educational resources. Meanwhile, the supervision team offered optimization suggestions regarding material standardization, personnel coordination mechanisms, and the design of inspection routes: firstly, to further refine the classification of supporting materials and emphasize the logical coherence of data chains; secondly, to strengthen coordinated training among teachers, students, and administrative staff to ensure that the whole evaluation process goes smooth; and thirdly, to deeply explore disciplinary characteristics and vividly showcase the educational achievements of "new engineering" through on-site inspections.
Finally, Du Yangang, Secretary of the Party Committee of the college, expressed gratitude to the supervision team for their precise guidance and stated that the college would strictly align with the feedback, ensuring "rigorous standardization and verifiability" in material refinement, "full participation and accountability" in personnel mobilization, and "highlighting key points and showcasing characteristics" in process design, to welcome the formal evaluation in the best possible state. Liang Houming, Associate Dean of the college, mentioned that the college would take this inspection as an opportunity to continuously deepen the educational philosophy of "student-centeredness and outcome orientation" and promote the connotative development of undergraduate teaching.
This supervision and inspection have clarified the direction for improvement for the College of Biotechnology in preparing for the undergraduate education and teaching accreditation evaluation. Moving forward, the college will focus on the guidance provided by the supervision team, aiming to "promote construction, reform, and enhancement through evaluation," comprehensively elevate the level of education and teaching and the quality of talent cultivation, and contribute the strength of the School of Biological Engineering to the construction of the university as a "high-level research-oriented university."
