Professor Roman Gonzalez, an Academician of the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering, Delivers a Lecture at Our University
On March 12th, Professor Roman Gonzalez, an Academician of the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering, a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), and the Director of the Xianghu Laboratory-Mojia Biosynthesis Bio-Innovation Joint Center, visited our university to deliver an academic lecture. Over 200 attendees, including Du Yangang, Party Secretary of the International Exchange Office and the College of Biotechnology, Zhang Cuiying, Associate Dean of the College of Biotechnology, and representatives of teachers and students, participated in the event. The meeting was chaired by Ma Long, Deputy Director of the International Exchange Office.
Prior to the lecture, Du Yangang presented Professor Roman Gonzalez with a certificate for the "Youshu Lecture Hall" of the Heming Academy at Tianjin University of Science and Technology and extended a warm welcome to his visit.
Professor Roman Gonzalez delivered a lecture titled "Realizing Next-Generation Biomanufacturing Based on Acyl-CoA Elongation Reactions." He provided an accessible introduction to his team's latest research achievements in synthesizing high-value-added chemicals using acyl-CoA elongation reactions and offered insights into the application prospects of this technology in next-generation biomanufacturing. The lecture was filled with captivating content, sparking lively discussions and active questioning from the attending teachers and students.
After the lecture, Professor Roman Gonzalez and his delegation visited the State Key Laboratory of Food Nutrition and Safety, jointly established by the provincial and ministerial authorities.
As a crucial strategic initiative under the university's "Pioneer Plan" to build a high-level institution, our university continues to deepen international exchanges and cooperation, actively establishing global academic dialogue platforms. This international exchange event, organized by the College of Biotechnology, effectively broadened the academic horizons of teachers and students, stimulated innovative thinking, and fostered a strong international research atmosphere, injecting new vitality into the high-quality connotative development of the university.
